About me

As a certified paediatric sleep practitioner, registered nurse and mother, I pride myself on always providing current and honest advice with a caring style.

I’ve undergone a comprehensive training and mentoring program with Dana Obleman creator of the Sleep Sense programme to become a certified sleep practitioner for babies and children. I am also EDS trained. This has given me the very best tools and knowledge available to help you get your child sleeping well.

I know only too well that not getting enough sleep effects our state of mind, feelings, relationships and health. I feel strongly that healthy sleep habits make for healthy children. A well-rested child is curious, energetic, happy, playful, and eager to learn. I can help give you the skills to improve your child’s quality of sleep.

My approach

My methods are based on current and up to date knowledge and experience. The way children develop, how they learn and how they respond to the world around them is extremely important.

The gentle yet affective approach allows the baby to feel supported and safe when learning to put themselves to sleep. I incorporate your style of parenting and only carry out plans which you are happy with. Sleep is an instrumental skill a child will have for their whole life, it is therefore important I work with you to ensure we help your child to learn to sleep.

So what about the tears?

Crying is your child's way of protesting change, and you can expect that making changes to their sleep habits will result in some protest. The programme will therefore likely cause some amount of protest on the child’s part. However, you can rest assure that you will never be asked to leave your child to cry alone for long periods of time, nor be asked to ignore their cries. The reason that my methods are so effective is because we develop a plan that you feel comfortable with, based on what you know about your child.

This approach to baby and toddler sleep has worked wonders for us! I can't recommend it enough. Our baby was waking up every hour or so from 4 months which was completely exhausting but we didn't want to do the really hard core kind of sleep training. This was absolutely perfect - gentle but so effective and Kate is an incredibly lovely person too. We felt totally safe and comfortable, and our baby, now toddler, has slept through the night consistently from about a fortnight after we started the programme. He even slept through a smoke alarm about a meter from his head last night!

Kate was amazing support and got my child sleeping better in just days. Her support continued even at weekends which was so valuable to us. I had seen paediatric specialists before but they never gave this level of support. Thoroughly recommend Kate to anyone having problems with their child's sleep.

Kate is amazing and a total life (well, sleep) saver! My wee girl was waking at nights and her naps had shortened, making for a very bad tempered toddler. Kate came up with a plan that was easy to follow even at 4am, and gave us tonnes of support on email and the phone to help us stick to it. Things are so much better, and I can’t recommend Simple Sleep highly enough.

Kate is thoughtful, intuitive and hugely supportive. My son was waking every hour or two and he now sleeps through the night. The plan she created was totally bespoke to us, and Kate took care to make sure we were comfortable with every step of it. I felt I could contact her whenever I needed to, no matter how irrational or silly my question was! Would highly recommend.
